HOUSTON (AP) — A tornado struck a residential area outside Houston, damaging over 100 homes according to Texas authorities reported on Monday.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in the wake of the tornado.
Images and drone footage shared on social media by the Harris County Precinct 4 constable showed extensive damage, including roofs with shingles ripped off and debris obstructing roads.
The area most affected was the Memorial Northwest neighborhood, as confirmed by constable Mark Herman's office.
In response to the damage, the Houston Fire Department deployed a team equipped with saws to clear fallen trees and assist with cleanup efforts.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for southeastern Texas, including Houston, continuing until 1 a.m. Tuesday, along with a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the region.
This news story has been updated to clarify that Mark Herman is the constable of Harris County Precinct 4, not Precinct 3.
