US President Donald Trump has unveiled renovations to the Lincoln Bathroom, as his remodeling of the White House continues. Trump shared photos of the new bathroom on social media, stating it had been 'renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era'.

In his announcement, he claimed the new black and white marble is 'very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!'

This bathroom remodel is part of a series of changes Trump has implemented in the White House this year. In October, the East Wing was demolished to make way for a new multi-million-dollar ballroom.

The bathroom is part of Lincoln's office and cabinet room, renovated by former President Harry Truman in the late 1940s. The original decor reportedly featured green and gold wallpaper. Now, after Trump's renovation, it includes fixtures of gold for the sink, faucet, shower door, and a chandelier.

The White House confirmed that this renovation was privately funded, incurring no cost to the taxpayers. However, Trump's efforts to personalize the White House have drawn criticisms from various conservation groups and political opponents.

Conservationists argue that Trump should have sought a public review, claiming his changes would overshadow the classical style of the White House. The White House responded to critics by suggesting that they were 'clutching their pearls over President Trump's visionary addition of a grand ballroom.'

In addition to the bathroom, Trump's renovation endeavors have included converting grass in the Rose Garden to stone, gilding several items in the Oval Office, and even more drastic changes to address mounting criticism.

As the government shutdown continues, Democrats have criticized Trump for prioritizing renovations over pressing issues such as health care. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer pointedly remarked on social media that Trump appears to care more about his toilet than fixing the healthcare system for citizens. Further, former President Barack Obama lamented Trump's focus on aesthetic changes rather than essential governance while at an event.
